SERC lecturer to represent Northern Ireland at Oxford World Literacy Summit
Tom Le Seelleur, ESOL lecturer and co-ordinator at South Eastern Regional College's Lisburn campus, has been selected as a featured speaker at the World Literacy Summit, taking place at Oxford University next year.
Tom is the sole representative from Northern Ireland among 450 speakers from more than 85 countries.
His talk, ‘Metro Newspaper Treasure Workshop’, will highlight creative literacy approaches that have inspired learners from diverse backgrounds.
With a distinguished 37-year teaching career across Lebanon, Libya, Spain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and the UK, Tom has dedicated himself to fostering English language skills and inclusivity.

At SERC, he has empowered Syrian families rebuilding their lives.
Beyond the classroom, Tom has led a social enterprise championing reading for pleasure and Lisburn Reads on Lisburn 98 Radio, giving voice to local authors and spotlighting community literacy initiatives.
Andrew Kay, CEO of the World Literacy Foundation, said: "The purpose of the Summit is to promote learning and encourage collaboration among all individuals involved in this vital work.”
