Concerns were growing that large crowds, from far and wide, could flock to the CoTyrone town in an attempt to attend an event that was set to be held at the Hill of The O’Neill and Ranfurly House visitor centre.

However, a council spokesperson has confirmed that as fears over the COVID-19 pandemic grow, the decision has been made to cancel the event.

“While we have had no formal notification as yet about limits on events attracting large crowds, that advice is widely expected this week and we feel, therefore, it is appropriate to cancel at this stage.

“We understand there will be disappointment at the decision and appreciate your understanding as we respond to the evolving COVID-19 situation.”
