Former cricketer holds art exhibition

Barry (Barrington) Harrison is best known in sporting circles as a member of the Harrison cricketing family from Waringstown, having played for many years at senior level. However the other string to his bow is painting. Barry has painted many scenes from the famous cricekt ground and other locations for publications and private commissions.

In more recent times with his children Mark, Julie and Simon grown up and his cricket playing days over, although he still has a great interest in the game, Barry has found some more time to devote to painting, the results of which you will see in his fourth solo exhibition.

“In my painting style consideration is given to design and then the necessary elements, such as shape (drawing), tonal value, colour and texture. During the course of completing each painting a rhythm tends to take over and the finished work should reflect this,” said Barry.

A wide range of topics will be on display, such as paintings of St George’s Market, Belfast, hotel and pub interiors, the Lagan river, local scenes of old Waringstown, horse racing, and of course scenes of cricket matches on The Lawn.

The exhibition will be opened by special guest Rose Neill on Thursday, November 15 at 7pm and it will continue on Friday, November 16 from 7 to 9.30pm. Everyone welcome.
