Our Caroline backs Menary’s donate a coat campaign

Downtown Radio presenter and local woman Caroline Fleck is backing Age NI’s “Spread the Warmth” campaign by donating one of her coats to the charity to help raise funds in helping older people prepare for and survive winter.

Caroline is also encouraging the public to do likewise and with leading department store Menarys coming on board to partner the campaign the public can now donate their coats to the charity through any of the 25 Menarys or Tempest stores across Northern Ireland, including Coleraine.

As a token of their appreciation, Menarys and Tempest will in return offer shoppers who donate a coat 20% off new coats and 10% off the last marked down price on a sale coat in most in-store shops including Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Warehouse, Jackpot and many more, right up until the end of February.

Caroline said: “The coat I am donating has a bit of a story with it.

“About eight years ago I spied a fabulous evening faux fur leopard skin print jacket at Portabello market in London. I love vintage clothes and at the time liked the idea of the coat having a story of its own before coming into my hands. I always imagined a very glamorous owner beforehand!

“I’ve worn it to a few awards ceremonies over the years but also down to the pub with a pair of jeans and although I love animal print, I have finally admitted defeat because it doesn’t love me. I’m delighted to help out with the Spread the Warmth campaign, it’s important to recognise that with an ageing society- they need to be well cared for.”

Jacqueline Beattie from Menarys/Tempest group said: “Menarys and Tempest stores are participating with Age NI and all you have to do is bring any unwanted coats to the nearest till point in store. This is our way to directly help those who are facing a harsh winter and also give something back to our loyal customers.”
