Antrim and Newtownabbey Council invites residents to support Women’s Aid ABCLN Christmas Pyjama Appeal
Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is inviting residents to help bring warmth and comfort to local women and children this Christmas by supporting the Women’s Aid ABCLN Christmas Pyjama Appeal.
Led by Councillor Leah Kirkpatrick and now in its sixth year, the appeal brings the community together to donate new pyjamas for women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse, including those living in refuge accommodation and those receiving support in the community.
Residents who would like to support the appeal are encouraged to donate new pyjamas for women, children and young people of all ages. Donations can be dropped off until Monday, December 14 at the following collection points:
- Antrim Civic Centre;

- Mossley Mill;
- Antrim Castle Gardens Gift Shop;
- Ballyclare Town Hall.
Councillor Leah Kirkpatrick said: “Christmas can be an incredibly difficult time for women and children affected by domestic abuse. A simple gift, such as a new pair of pyjamas, can bring comfort, hope and a sense of normality, while reminding someone that they are cared for and not alone.
“Our community has shown such kindness in supporting this appeal, with more than 900 pairs of pyjamas donated last year. I would encourage everyone who can to support this year’s appeal. Each donation is a thoughtful gesture that can help women and children across our Borough feel valued and supported this Christmas.”
All donations will be collected and distributed by Women’s Aid ABCLN to women and children across the borough who need support this Christmas.
Gillian Robinson, Chief Executive of Women’s Aid ABCLN, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council for once again supporting women and children in our communities and to Councillor Leah Kirkpatrick for her continued commitment to this appeal.
“New pyjamas are more than a practical gift. They offer comfort, warmth and a sense of care at what can be an especially difficult time of year.
“Every donation is a reminder to women and children that they are not alone. We are deeply thankful to everyone who supports the appeal and helps make Christmas a little brighter for the families we work with.”
