900 customers left without power during outage

Around 900 customers were left without power in the Glengormley area yesterday.

A spokesperson from NIE Networks said: “Contractor damage to the overhead electricity network left around 900 customers in the Glengormley area without power on Sunday. The incident occurred at 11:38am and NIE Networks’ emergency repair teams responded immediately to assess the damage and begin repairs. In order to repair the fault customers had power restored in stages, with over 700 customers restored by 1:20pm, 140 by 3pm and the remaining customers had power restored by 4:20pm.”

The spokesperson added: “We would remind anyone working in the vicinity of overhead lines or underground cables to exercise extreme caution and use safe working practices. NIE Networks currently offers a wide range of advice and assistance including advice leaflets, videos and maps and diagrams of the electricity network.”
