Appeal after attempted robbery in Whitehead
Police are appealing for witnesses after a male attempted to rob a woman in Whitehead last night (Tuesday).
Constable David Johnston said: “Two women were walking close to the cenotaph off Chester Avenue just before 10pm when a male approached them from behind and grabbed one of them around the neck, demanding she hand over everything she had on her person.
“The woman struggled and her friend called for help forcing the male to let go and run off towards the Kings Road/Bridge direction.
“Obviously this was a distressing incident for both ladies and we are keen to track down the offender. Anyone who can assist with our enquiries can contact us on the non-emergency number 101.”
