Hallowe’en may have gone with a bang for most people in Londonderry, but for one Waringstown woman the evening was tinged with stress.

Mary Coleman was among the many thousands to attended the parade and fireworks and admire the myriad of costumes worn by people of all ages.

However, she lost something very dear to her - a poppy brooch.

She explained: “I was at the Halloween celebration last weekend, on Friday night I lost a Poppy Brooch which means a lot to me. It’s a single red poppy made on gold coloured metal with a green leaf and the letters RBL along the bottom.

“I think I lost it on the walls just around Magazine Gate,” Mary said.

It is special to her as it was awarded to her for selling poppies for 25 years - that was over 30 years ago. She still sells poppies for the RBL.

“I would love to get the brooch back,” she said.
