Assembly Elections 2016: Jim Allister first to be elected in North Antrim

He reached the quota in the seventh count on the transfer of TUV candidate Timothy Gaston’s votes following his elimination.

Others eliminated in earlier stages were Kathryn Johnston (NI Labour Representation Committee), James Simpson (Conservative Party), Jennifer Breslin (Green Party), Andrew Wright (UUP), Donna Anderson (UKIP) and Stephen McFarland (Alliance).

Fifteen candidates are standing for six seats in the constituency.

Votes polled in North Antrim were 41,464 (turnout 52.93%). The number of valid votes was 40998. Quota - 5857.
