Autumn Ball for Prostate Cancer

Saturday, October 10 is the date for your diaries when the Royal Court Hotel will host a charity ball.

Organised by a well known local family, the ball will support Prostate Cancer UK.

Frankie Moffatt, the former Coleraine and Portstewart great, nick named ‘Basher’, was diagnosed with the disease himself eight years ago.

In the past few years he has organised a series of events to highlight the importance of early diagnosis and to raise much needed funds for Prostate UK, who do vital research into the disease.

He told The Times: “Every year 40,000 men in the UK are diagnosed with Prostate Cancer of whom 10,000 die - yet most men are unaware of the disease, tests are unreliable, treatments can cause life changing side effects and research is badly under funded.”

Tickets for black tie event are £40 per person and are available from any of the Moffatt family.

Guests can look forward to a four course meal and entertainment from a live band. Coleraine man Rodd Hogg will also be on hand with his up close magic to wow guests.

A hamper full of Estee Lauder products is also being raffled for the charity.

Frankie’s wife Anne explained: “The hamper is worth over £750.

“We have been gathering items up for the past year and tickets are just £5, it really is a wonderful prize.

“We will draw the winner on the night of the Autumn Ball.”

Anne said a special thank you to Anne and Carolyn from Boots in Coleraine who have been supporting her with the raffle.
