Ballyclare Scout Tony names guide dog pup
Tony Montgomery from 1st Ballyclare Scout Troop was the winner of the South East Antrim Scout District competition to name the guide dog puppy.
Tony suggested that the puppy be called ‘Penny’ as all the Scouts, Cubs and Beavers in the District saved their pennies to sponsor the dog through Guide Dogs NI.
Penny is now 20 weeks old and will undergo basic walking training until she is 14 months old. After that she will be taken to Scotland for advanced guide dog training.
Penny and her trainer, Dawn McKeown, recently paid a visit to 1st Ballyclare Scout Troop to thank the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts for their support of the Guide Dogs charity.
