Bare cheek - locals strip off for Boom Foundation calendar

A group of local lads have stripped off for a charity calender in memory of their pal who sadly lost his battle with sarcoma cancer earlier this year.

The brave models - Dean Rankin, Michael McMullan, Reza Dehaghani, Paul Robinson, Dominic Higgins, Ross McCrindle, Derek Topping, Richard Boyd, Johnny McAleese, Tony Wilson and Maurice Stevenson stripped off at locations across the North Coast in a bid to raise money for The Boom Foundation, a charity set up by Leona Rankin from Coleraine in memory of her brave fiancé Philip Wilson.

Philip who was originally from Lisburn, was first diagnosed with sarcoma cancer - a rare form of cancer which affects the soft tissue and bones of the body back in 2003.

Sadly after being in remission for six years, the cancer returned in 2009 and on March 8 of this year, Philip, who was just 36, sadly lost his battle.

Thanks to your support, The Boom Foundation is already making a difference to Sarcoma patients here in Northern Ireland.

Speaking about the calendar, Leona told The Times: “The calendar came about because I wanted Philip’s friends and family to be able to do something for the charity, something they knew that Philip himself would have enjoyed.”

We’ve provided you with a little taster - but if you would like your own copy of the calender visit www.theboomfoundation.co.uk or email [email protected].
