Call for bikers to join Dr John’s cortege crossing the border
Dr John, has he was affectionately known, one of the so-called “flying doctors” of Irish road racing, was killed at a motorcycle event at Skerries.
He was involved in an accident while providing medical cover at a Skerries 100 practice session, the Motorcycle Union of Ireland said.

Hide AdDr Hinds, from Tandragee, was a consultant at Craigavon Hospital Area Hospital.
Dr Hinds’ family have released funeral arrangements and have asked all those bike fans to join the cortege as his body is brought across the border.
The cortege will be leaving Applegreen Service station at the motorway in (M1 northbound, Castlebellingham) at 5pm this evening (Tuesday). It will be led by the MCUIs other flying doctor Dr Fred McSorley from Lurgan.
It will travel via Banbridge and then to the Tandragee 100 circuit.

Hide AdThe funeral service is at 2pm on Thursday at St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ballyphilip Road, Portaferry.
“The family are overwhelmed by everyone’s response and would like to thank the public, and have asked for as many bikes fans to join the cortege,” said a statement.
