Charity fashion and entertainment night almost sell-out success

MADONNA, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, leg warmers, bat wings - all the things that bring back memories of the fantastic decade that was the 1980s.

Now, two Coleraine women have organised a gala night of fashion and entertainment with an 80s theme to raise money for a number of charities.

Cindy Marshall and Leeann Moffatt from Tempest in the Diamond Centre have organised the fashion show in the Magherabuoy House Hotel in Portrush on Friday, November 12 and such is the anticipation for this show that the tickets have almost SOLD OUT already.

A Facebook page has now been set up to keep everyone informed about the format and auction items and to bring back some memories of this great era.

The stores taking part are preparing to choose the best of their Autumn/Winter stock for your viewing on the evening. The stores showing are Miss Selfridge, Oasis, Warehouse, Mango, Barratts shoes, Exhibit, Fuse, Quiz, and a preview of Christmas underwear by La Senza.

Gino/NV are styling a group of local teenagers to “Walk this Way” in Run DMC style so guests can get lots of ideas of what to wear to shine this festive season.

The independents are also well represented with Dragonfly Boutique, Minx/Whitelabel and Dixons also taking to the runway. The models are all local girls and boys and are very much looking forward to walking the catwalk.

Apart from the Fashion Fix, there is also a fun packed night of cabaret including iconic 80s dance routines. The dancers are busy at rehearsals being put through their paces by Gerald McQuilken, Coleraine’s very own Brian Friedman...Gerald intends to bring the X Factor to the cabaret section with his fun routines...look out for lots of local faces!

The night has an 80s vibe but guests are not required to dress 80s unless they wish to. The theme is very much 80s with a modern twist.

Two of the auction pieces that are causing a lot of reaction are the handsigned photograph of Patrick Swayze in Pointbreak and the handsigned of Sylvester Stallone in Rocky 3.

These would make amazing presents for fans and are only two of the very unique collection donated by fashion designers and London contacts.

There will be special modelling appearances from Coleraine Football Club players and Andy McBride will also be making an appearance as an iconic 80s figure...can you guess who?

The fabulous Maureen Roddy will again take to the stage with Leroy Dempster and Mark Crawford making an arresting performance!

The charities benefiting this year are Action Cancer and Lavender Trust Breast Cancer Care. The raffle proceeds will be given to Coleraine’s Caring Caretaker.

So if you haven’t already got your ticket, they are available in Tempest, Dixons and Minx. Tickets cost 15 and include glass of bubbly on arrival and light supper. There is an 80s disco/afterparty which guarantees all the hits of this great decade.
