Childhood memories of grandmother’s wisdom

“I would have you wise unto that which is good.” Rom 16:19

You have to creep before you walk

So the old saying goes,

And if you think before you talk

You won’t have so many foes.

Strange things my grandma used to say

I often wondered what she meant

As a child I’d often hear her quote

That life was only lent.

She added: “Walk along the sunny part”

Catch the fragrance of the rose,

And always try to see the bright side

Of another person’s woes.

Now grandma’s gone her words live on

Which I recall amidst life’s pain,

Assuring me, however many times I fall

“Faith will help me rise again.”
