Cinema experience rounds off festival

Knockmore and Tonagh residents rounded off their Summer Festival Week with a unique cinema experience thanks to the BRIC programme.

The crowds were out in force as they enjoyed an action packed week culminating in Saturday’s big event which saw the world’s only inflatable cinema thrill and entertain all those in attendance with a series of short films and documentaries.

The festival, which ran from August 10 to 17, was organised by Knockmore and Tonagh Community Associations and was supported by Lisburn City Council.

Sarah Jane Patterson, Community Development Worker, said: “The BRIC programme has played a very positive role in cultivating and building community spirit in this area and these events have been yet another step towards cementing these relationships even further.

“Both Knockmore and Tonagh have benefited hugely from their involvement with BRIC and look forward to continuing their journey with the programme.

“This week has been an enormous boost to the local community and we are delighted to finish it all off with the inflatable cinema extravaganza which is such a special and distinctive event.

“Thanks are extended to everyone who has worked so hard to make this a memorable and successful week including the local residents, BRIC, Lisburn City Council and the Housing Executive.”

The unique cinema event was one of a series of initiatives being delivered by the EU Peace III funded Building Relationships in Communities (BRIC) programme
