City of Culture info meetings for all local communities

A SERIES of "cultural connections" information meetings have been arranged for local communities to find out more about the city's year of culture 2013.

From Lettershandoney to Lincoln Courts and Culmore to Creggan, there will be public meetings taking place throughout November and December, chaired by local neighbourhood representatives and hosted by members of the City of Culture team.

A full listing is available on www.cityofculture2013.com. The first meetings take place in Newbuildings Community Centre this evening November 10 and in St Joseph's Parish Hall on Thursday, November 11.

Oonagh McGillion, Temporary Director of Derry City Council, explained that the upcoming meetings are vital step in listening to communities and shaping the City of Culture 2013 year.

"It's important we undertake these important meetings to update local communities on the next steps, how they can get involved and understand how local contributions and interests can help shape the significant year of culture.

"It is our ambition that every single person from the city and its rural hinterland has the opportunity to become involved and these meetings are an important step in this process."
