Cookstown footballers an ‘inspiration for local fans’ with Northern Ireland performances

Cookstown footballers Aaron Hughes and Stuart Dallas have won the admiration of two Mid Ulster politicians for their performances with the Northern Ireland team.

DUP MLA Ian McCrea and UUP Mid Ulster councillor Trevor Wilson sang their praises after both reached milestones in their national careers.

Aaron Hughes recently became the most capped outfield player in the history of Northern Ireland football with 96 caps, while Stuart Dallas scored his first goal for the team in a recent friendly against Qatar.

Ian McCrea said: “I was delighted to see Stuart Dallas score his first goal for Northern Ireland in the recent friendly against Qatar - Stuart has a wonderful talent.

“I also want to congratulate Aaron Hughes who recently became the most capped outfield player in Northern Ireland’s Football history with 96 caps.”

Mid Ulster councillor Trevor Wilson said the men are an inspiration to local fan of the ‘beautiful game’.

He said: “Aaron and Stuart are an inspiration for many local football fans as their dedication is second to none and they should be very proud of their achievements.
