Cookstown police issue warning over children and dogs left in hot cars

Police in Cookstown have said they will be keeping an eye for any children or pets left in cars during the hot weather.

In a statement posted on their Facebook page, the PSNI said hot cars were a real hazard.

“It’s getting hotter out there. Perhaps a good opportunity for a timely reminder.

“As the temperatures rise, don’t leave small children or, indeed dogs, locked in parked vehicles without adequate ventilation, there is a danger that without adequate ventilation, small children or animals locked in a car on a hot day, could suffer as a consequence.

Police will use discretion when responding to such an incident and assess the individual circumstances, however we would like to remind motorists of the obvious dangers.
