Country star to play Londonderry

NASHVILLE-born country music star Kevin Montgomery rolls into Londonderry for a special gig in support of two local charities involved in the prevention of suicide and in helping people cope with bereavement.

The country star will be playing a special gig in the Nerve Centre, Magazine Street on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 8.30pm.

The gig is to raise funds for both Foyle Search and Rescue who do an unbelievable job supporting families who have lost a loved one to our river and Youthlife who support young people who have experienced loss through family break-up or bereavement.

When asked to play as part of his UK tour, Kevin said he would be delighted to support such worthy causes. He promised that a good night will be had by all and who knows some special guests could be there.

Kevin has a royal pedigree in the field of music, his Dad played with Buddy Holly and his Mum sang backing vocals with Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan.

He grew up running through the house of his next door neighbour, Patsy Cline, so has a strong grounding in music.

Western Trust Suicide Liaison Officer Barry McGale said: "It shows how important the work of these two organisations are when an artist like Kevin would include a gig specially for them in his tour.

"I know the people of the Northwest will recognise this by making this a sell-out gig to raise as much money as possible."

Tickets are priced 15 and are available through the Nerve Centre or through www.wegottickets.com and all proceeds go to the above charities.
