Ballymena driver's 'signal' issue led to drink drive detection
A drink driving offence was detected after police noticed a motorist "didn't use the correct signals to turn left", a court has heard.
The 18-year-old defendant had an alcohol in breath reading of 48 - the legal limit is 35.
Michael Mongan, of St Patrick's Avenue in Ballymena, was detected in the Demesne area of the town on July 25 this year.
A defence solicitor told Ballymena Magistrates’ Court the defendant had been out with friends.
"He was told to be home by 12. He had taken some drink earlier, had a sleep, and thought he was able to drive."
Mongan was banned from driving for a year and has been fined £200.
