A Lisburn man has appeared in court charged with wounding and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

He appeared before Lisburn Magistrates Court on Thursday, October 22, 2026 and made no comment when the charges were read to him by a court official.

The facts of the case were not opened in court. However, it is understood the charges relate to an incident at Queensway in Dunmurry on March 7, 2026, when it was alleged the defendant wounded another man and had in his possession a heavy duty torch.

A Preliminary Enquiry was carried out, with the Public Prosecutor stating that, based on the papers before the court, she believed there was a prima facie case to answer.

The Defence made no contrary submission.

District Judge Rosie Watters stated that the defendant, Matthew Loughead (21), whose address was given as Woodland Gardens, would appear before Craigavon Crown Court for arraignment on November 27, 2026.
