Joanna Kitta, from Ballybay Avenue, Portadown is charged with non-fatal strangulation or asphyxiation of a woman on February 9 this year, threatening to kill that woman and assaulting the same woman on that date.

When the charges were put to the defendant she said she understood then. She declined to use her right to say anything or put anything in writing in response to the charges.

District Judge Michael Ranaghan said she would be sent for trial to Craigavon Crown Court with arraignment on June 30.

Kitta was released on continuing bail.

The defendant’s barrister, Mr Aaron Thompson, upon requesting the court, received legal aid on behalf of his client for counsel in the crown court.
