Coventry Salvation Band visit proves huge success

The weekend started with a Civic Reception where Coventry City and Lurgan Salvation Army were kindly received by the Mayor Colin McCusker in his parlour. A gift was presented by the Craigavon mayor to the Coventry City band on behalf of the Borough and the band presented one from the Lord Mayor of Coventry.

In the Festival on Saturday evening extra chairs were drafted in for an audience of around 250. The Band (led by Banmaster Jonathan Fearn) presented exciting, uplifting and spiritually challenging music all weekend both in Festivals on Saturday Evening and Sunday Afternoon, with both Salvation Army and contemporary music. The Band and their Minister (Major Gethin Thomas) led Sunday services where much blessing was brought both in music and the spoken word.

On Sunday morning the band also carried out a March of Witness around the surrounding area.

“The weekend enabled to listen to compelling and God given music, to make new friends and give praise and honour to God. Lurgan Band now plan to travel to Coventry in November with the plan to do the same,” said Martin Stevenson of the Lurgan Salavation Army.
