Broughshane burglaries at church and business premises may be linked, say PSNI

Electrical items, including televisions and recording equipment, were stolen from a church in Broughshane in one of two overnight burglaries in the village.

Police said they are investigating a potential link between two incidents.

They received reports on Saturday morning that a business premises in Main Street and a church building in the Buckna Road area had been entered overnight.

"We understand a till was opened and rummaged through and a sum of money was taken, as well as a mobile phone from the business premises,” a PSNI spokesperson said.

"A number of electrical goods, including televisions and recording equipment were stolen from the church after access was gained through the rear of the building.

"Both investigations are at an early stage and at present we are exploring the possibility that these reports are connected.”

Anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in these areas late on Friday, June 7, into the early hours of Saturday, is asked to make contact with police on 101 quoting reference numbers 393 and 482 08/06/24.
