Driver arrested in Portadown for immigration offence
A male driver has been arrested for an immigration offence after police stopped him in Portadown for a motoring issue.
Road Policing Officers stopped the motorist on the Armagh Road.
"We simply wanted to speak with the driver about his expired MOT, however, the driver produced a suspected fake international driving licence to officers and checks with Immigration showed that he was an illegal overstayer in the UK,” said police.
The driver was arrested for a number of traffic offences and also an immigration offence.
"He will have to attend court for the traffic offences, and Immigration Enforcement will deal with him for the immigration offence,” police confirmed.
