Garvagh taxi driver fined £600 for licensing and insurance offences

A Garvagh man was fined a total of £600 and given eight penalty points at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court.

Mark Fleming of Fountainville pleaded guilty to the offences and was fined £200 for having no public service vehicle licence, £300 and eight penalty points for having no insurance and £100 for having no taxi operators licence. Mr Fleming was also ordered to pay a £15 offender levy.

Mr Fleming was stopped by Driver & Vehicle Agency Enforcement Officers on April 5 this year whilst dropping passengers off in Kelly’s nightclub Portrush.

When interviewed under caution Mr Fleming stated that he was not taxiing.

The charges were brought under The Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 and The Taxis Act (Northern Ireland) 2008
