Police dog helps to apprehend male in Newtownabbey

A male is currently in police custody following the theft of a motorcycle in the Fernagh area of Newtownabbey in the early hours of this morning.

Detailing the incident, a PSNI spokesperson said: “Earlier this morning, around 2am, we had a report of a couple of suspicious males in the area of Fernagh Court.

“Police responded quickly to discover that a motorcycle had been stolen from an address in the Fernagh Avenue area. Thankfully it was recovered and has been returned to the rightful owner.

“Needless to say the males made off, but after some great teamwork involving PD Hektor and a lot of hedge and fence hopping, a male was located and is in now in police custody.

“This spanned over Fernagh Court, Road, Drive, Avenue, Gardens and Ypres Park. Thanks to the eagle-eyed resident who made the spot in the first place. Your call was invaluable.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident reference number 102 of 16/3/20.
