Cycle to celebrate Giro D’Italia

Families are invited to get involved in a programme of free cycle ride in Banbridge to celebrate the Giro d’Italia, one of the world’s great cycling events.

The Southern Cycle for Health scheme is hosting a week of cycling activities from May 5-9 to give people the opportunity to try out or get back into cycling.

All cycles are led by qualified Cycle Leaders and everyone registering will be provided with a bicycle, helmet and safety equipment for the cycle.

Gerard Rocks, Assistant Director for Promoting Wellbeing, Southern Health and Social Care Trust said: “Cycling is a great way to be more active, get outdoors, meet new people and improve your health and wellbeing, so book early as places on the cycles are limited.”

As part of the programme cycle leaders will have access to a number of bicycles in Cycle Pod sites located in Scarva Tea Rooms, Banbridge.

Promoting health and wellbeing are key themes of Transforming Your Care. Southern Cycle for Health demonstrates how the trust is empowering local communities to take an active and positive role in improving their own wellbeing.
