Dollars and Dimes dancers excel at All-Ireland Championships

In all, the dancers brought home 13 All Ireland Championship titles covering a variety of competitions in all age groups and across all categories, including claiming the All Ireland Champions 2016 crown.

The event took place on Friday and Saturday, April 15 and 16 and the dancers have been on a high ever since.

On the Friday evening the competition categories were in the categories of Pro-am, Teams, Duos and Partners, with trophies and titles won for the Dollars and Dimes as follows.

Children, Team of four Choreography: Lucy O’Hara, Kerri-Lynn Cooke, Hannah Duncan and Jodie Riddles, first place.

Children Duos: Hannah Duncan and Jodie Riddles, first Place; Lucy O’Hara and Kerri-Lynn, second.

Children Partners: Hannah Duncan and Jodie Riddles, first; Lucy and Kerri-Lynn, third.

Adult Duos: Hannah Johnson and Shannan McCarter, first; Orla Dixon and Bronagh Archibald, second.

Adult Partners: Hannah Johnson and Shannan McCarter, first.

Gems Partners, for competitors over the age of 30; Orla Dixon and Bronagh Archibald, first. Adult Team of 4: Orla Dixon, Bronagh Archibald, Shannan McCarter and Hannah Johnson, second.

The Saturday Competition was on the categories for Solo, Open and Charity and Club competitions, and again, the Dollars and Dimes dancers excelled themselves, with further success as the results below show.

In the Solo, Tiny Tots section little dancer Cooper Duncan was one of only two boys who competed in the Under-6 competition.

Other results were: Children Charity (Top three dancers), Lucy O’Hara who was crowned Champion, with Jodie Riddles as runner-up and in third place, Hannah Duncan.

Newcomer Champions: 25 to 35 age group, Siobhan O’Kane; 36 to 49, Tammy Duncan; Silver, Jacqueline O’Kane.

Novice Champion: 25 to 35 Stephanie Cooke.

Intermediate Champion, 25 to 35, Bronagh Archibald.

Open Champion, three consecutive years, in the category for those over the age of 30, Orla Dixon.

Advanced, Runners up: 12 to 16, Lucy O’Hara; 25 to 35, Orla Dixon.

Elaine Montgomery is no stranger to competitive dancing herself.

Among the many feathers in her cap is when she competed at World Championship Level in Nashville, where she took second place in the Advanced category.

She has been teaching line dancing for almost 20 years and recently returned to Gransha Social Club, her first dance venue, to teach on a Thursday night.

In addition, Elaine has been teaching children for the last 10 years, starting in Tullyally Resource Centre and moved to Irish Street when Tullyally closed.
