Dungannon teenager David Shrestha being laid to rest today

The Dungannon teenager tragically found dead at his home on Saturday morning is to be laid to rest this afternoon (Monday, September 12).

Described as a talented sportsman who was “loved by all”, David Shrestha was just 14.

His funeral service will take place at 2pm this afternoon at St Anne’s Parish Church in Dungannon, after which he will be laid to rest at Tullanisken Parish Church in Newmills.

A year 11 student at Royal School Dungannon, David was a keen swimmer and played for Dungannon Rugby Club as well as his school team.

The school opened on Sunday, providing teachers and a counsellor to speak to students mourning his loss.

A post from the Royal School’s Rugby Club spoke of a David as a “determined, fearless, respectful and respected young man” who has “gone too soon”.

“We must all work together to deal with this tough time, in our teams and with our friends,” it said.

“Always remember the good times we shared with David. Our thoughts and prayers are with Abraham, Kate, Jono, Grace and Sarah.

“David, we are so proud of you and everything you achieved. You had so much more in front of you and you have gone too soon. Love from us all at RSD Rugby!”

Royal School Dungannon Parent Friends and Teacher Association also paid respects to David’s family on Facebook.

They said: “The funeral of David will take place tomorrow at 2pm in St Anne’s church, Dungannon.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Abram, Kate, Jono, Grace and Sarah x”
