Dunluce Castle...to Malawi

Yet this group of women have been providing support for over 15 years to some of the poorest and deprived in Africa.

They support families, orphans, sick children and charity victims through a variety of fund-raising activities, including their charity shops, all of which are manned on a voluntary basis.

Headed by Chairperson Rita McAuley, they are Carol Loughrey, Ann Carey and directed by Teresa OʼNeill along with other volunteers they have been contributing to the most needy.

Malawi has one of the lowest incomes per head in the world with most people existing on less than one dollar a day.

Poverty is the number one enemy to economic development and despite international support it is a largely agricultural based country which has been unable to climb out of the Global Poverty Trap.

Devenish Galleries in Enniskillen is generously giving the profits from the sale of 250 signed and numbered Special Edition Lithographic Prints from a painting of Dunluce Castle by R J Brian Coulter, an award winning artist and Ecclesfield Printing are donating the cost of printing these.

The prints are being sold for £70 each or framed (choice of two frames) for £150. The print is high quality on heavy watercolour paper.

The size is 30” x 20” unframed.

The painting formedpart of an exhibition earlier this year.

All funds raised will go to build three new modular schools - primarily for the education of girls - in one of the poorest districts of Blantyre in the country.

Buildings are already progressing but money is urgently needed to finish off the Science Block for September.
