His anti-Semitic comments have made headline news in Israel-based news websites.

McGuigan who played for Ardboe on Sunday, has since removed the tweet which he posted at the end of July during the conflict in Gaza.

“I apologise for any offence caused”, he is quoting as saying in the Tyrone Herald newspaper.

“I am not in the public eye and it was just a joke to the people I hang around with.”

It is understood the PSNI are investigating a formal complaint made over the tweet.
