Jimmy Quinn, from Reenaderry Road in Derrytresk, has planted a sea of colour around his beautiful home, which has been frequently badly hit by flooding from the nearby Torrent River.

Indeed, when this reporter paid a visit to Jimmy, it was difficult to imagine that only months ago, his bungalow was besieged by flood waters - with a staggering 1,200 sandbags surrounding the property and two mechanical pumps clearing the ground.

Now, Jimmy’s home is decorated with around 400 bedding plants blazing in colour, while his crop of peas, carrots and lettuces have been attracting a steady stream of neighbours and friends eager to sample the delicious fresh produce which this reporter was also lucky enough to get her hands on!
