Paul Smith, Chairman of the Stoneyford Jubilee Committee said he was delighted to take part and delighted to have gained financial support to fund a fun day on July 11.

“Our committee is determined to promote the village of Stoneyford. We want to work with relevant organisations to participate in training and organise cross cultural activities which will be open to everyone, both from within, and outside the village of Stoneyford. We are grateful to the Rural Community Network and to Lisburn City Council for their financial support as well as to the Reverend John Farr for supporting us in our work.”

Orla Black, Rural Enabler for County Antrim, said; “This programme of work is about building the capacity of the band and improving the negative image that the village of Stoneyford has had in the past. The fun day will be open to everyone and I would encourage everyone to come to the event and enjoy the festivities and celebrate our cultural diversity.”

Further activities, including a beacon and fireworks display, will take place following the band parade through the village after 7pm. This will be funded by Lisburn City Council.
