Girl Guiding is coming to Cloughmills

If you are interested in a fun filled evening and finding out more about Rainbows, Brownies or how to become an adult volunteer come along to Cloughmills Primary School on Tuesday 2 June at 7.00pm.

Emily McIlvenna, North Antrim County Commissioner said: “Girlguiding offers young girls the opportunity to develop as individuals and take part in a host of adventurous activities in a safe girl only environment.

“Currently there are no uniformed organisations meeting in Cloughmills and we thought now would be a good opportunity to introduce guiding to the local community. We will be holding a taster evening on 2 June at 7.00pm in Cloughmills Primary School with plenty of fun activities on offer for everyone to try such as games and crafts.

“Rainbows and Brownies learn by taking part in a wide range of activities such as trying out crafts and recipes, playing games and visiting local places of interest. A representative from the RSPCA might come to a meeting to talk about looking after pets or a police officer might come to explain to the girls about road safety.

“Through Rainbows and Brownies, girls learn about caring and sharing with family and friends, working together, fair play, and being considerate and helpful to others.

“We are always on the lookout for new volunteers. Volunteering with Girlguiding enables you to play a part in giving girls and young women incredible experiences and self-confidence in a safe, girl-only space.

“It’s really rewarding seeing the girls enjoy themselves and achieve things they may never have dreamed of. Plus as a volunteer you can learn new skills and experience things you wouldn’t otherwise have the chance to do.”
