The cycle takes place from Thursday, May 11 to Sunday, May 14 with the aim being to raise awareness and funds to help provide support and services for people with cystic fibrosis nationally. These include support grants for people with cystic fibrosis for exercise, transplant assessment, fertility treatment and counselling, as well as research and new healthcare facilities.

Claire McAlister is new to cycling, but has taken on this mammoth task, she said: “I don’t have my bike a month yet, but I am already very fit and have an aggressive training plan in place. But I think I’ll need a bit of luck on my side to see me over the hills and past the 602km finish line.” P3 teacher at Ballinderry Primary School & Nursery Unit, Kathryn McAlister and sister to Claire led the school’s fundraising efforts.
