Horse-riding friends form guard of honour for Shannon

Horse-riding friends of Shannon Weir, who died following a car crash in Co Armagh, formed a guard of honour at her funeral service yesterday.

The 20-year-old was a passenger in a car involved in a collision with a cement lorry on the Legacorry Road, Richhill on Thursday.

Shannon’s funeral service took place at Ballymore Parish Church in Tandragee. The coffin was carried through the town on a horse-drawn carriage as her family and many of her young friends walked behind.

Shannon, who lived at Glebe Hill Manor, was known in the area as an equestrian enthusiast.

Miss Weir is survived by her father Ronnie and sister Samantha.

Another female who was driving the car was seriously injured and is being treated in Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital.
