VOTERS in Londonderry will be denied a vote on May 6 if they are not on the electoral register.

Head of independent elections watchdog the Electoral Commission Samus Magee warns: “The countdown to the election is now on, and voters only have until 20 April to make sure they are registered.

“If you’re not on the register, you can’t vote. So go to www.aboutmyvote.com or call 0800 0323 700 and register now.

“Many people don’t realise that if you’ve changed your address, you need to update your details or you won’t be able to vote.

“You might not even be sure that you are going to vote. But by taking the time to register now, you won’t be robbing yourself of that choice on polling day.”

Registration forms and more information can be obtained by visiting www.aboutmyvote.co.uk or calling 0800 0323 700.
