Latest: Two Chinese men appear in court over Magherafelt cannabis factory

Two Chinese men have appeared in court ccharged in connection with the seizure of £400,000 worth of cannabis in Maherafelt.

Rui Ding, 40, whose address was given on court papers as Carricknakeel Lane, Knockloughrim, and 50-year-old Liang Wu, of no fixed abode, are jointly charged with cultivati by cannabis and possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

They are further jointly charged with possessing the class B drug and dishonestly using electricity on May 12.

Wu also faces four similar charges relating to an address in Carrickmore on September 17, last year.

An investigating officer told Derry Magistrates Court he believed he could connect both men to the charges.

There was no application for bail and both men were remanded in custody until June 11.
