Lisburn Mayor meets Prince Charles

The Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Thomas Beckett, was honoured to meet His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales at Hillsborough Castle during the recent Royal Visit of Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall to Northern Ireland.

“The Prince of Wales was extremely well-informed about local government reform, and I was pleased to tell the Prince about our new status as one of the new eleven councils,” said Mr Beckett. “The Prince is very interested in Hillsborough Castle and its Historic Royal Palaces status, and I was able to report that the Council looks forward, with interest, to continuing our work with Hillsborough Castle which is the official residence of Her Majesty the Queen, in Northern Ireland and which is located within our Council area.

“We also discussed the Prince’s Trust and the excellent opportunities that are afforded to young people through this very worthy organisation.

“I was very pleased to meet Prince Charles and I received his good wishes on behalf of the City of Lisburn and Castlereagh.”
