McGlone wants First Minister to explain how she can lead agriculture through £1.5billion Brexit loss

SDLP MLA for Mid Ulster, Patsy McGlone, says the farming and fishing sectors require £1,497.7m (£1.5b) worth of answers on the full financial implications of Brexit.

“As soon as the vote came in, I sought answers on critical questions regarding the farming and fishing sectors,” he said. “The most pressing was about how much money they’ve effectively lost because of a decision by people in England and Wales to leave.

“The Minister of Agriculture says over the last five years the department has been able to support the backbone of the North with £1,497.7m of EU funding. Arlene Foster, so convinced by the benefits of Brexit, must now put her money where her mouth is and explain as a matter of urgency, why our farmers and fishers can have confidence in her ability to lead them through this man-made crisis.”
