Men arrested on suspicion of impersonating police officers

Police have arrested two men on suspicion of impersonating police officers after a car was stopped on Mallusk’s Hydepark Road on the evening of Sunday, October 4.

Chief Inspector Stephen Reid revealed: “One man was wearing a police style body warmer and both were reported to have been stopping cars along the road using a flashing blue light.

“A car was stopped and the occupants asked to get out.

“Thankfully they didn’t, but instead reported the incident to police.

“We then arrested two men, aged 18 and 30 a few hours later in the Newtownabbey area.

“The investigation continues and the two men have been released on police bail,” he concluded.
