Moneymore man tells PSNI officer to ‘get your f**king hands off me’

Colin Macinness (20), of Fairlea Heights, Moneymore, was warned by District Judge Alan White that his behaviour “must change.”

Macinness was also fined £300 on three counts of disorderly behaviour in November, December last and February this year.

The court heard that at 3am on November 2 police spotted the defendant standing in the middle of Queen Street, Magherafelt, and he shouted “f..k the PSNI” before running off in the direction of Rainey Street car park.

Continuing, a PPS lawyer said on December 27 defendant was sitting on the side panel of a police car at Rainey Street car park and on being approached by police he became verbally abusive.

She said police asked him to calm down and he replied “get your f**king hands off me” an officer was knocked to the ground while Macinness was arrested.

On February 7 last, police on mobile patrol observed the defendant at Rainey Street car park, the prosecutor went on.

She said Macinnes shouted at police and made off towards Queen Street where he made a finger gesture at members of the mobile patrol as well as shouting and swearing at the officers.

A defence solicitor stressed the defendant had apologised to officers at the scene on two of the occasions.

She pointed out that Macinness had now stopped socialising in the Magherafelt area in order to avoid being stopped by the PSNI.

District Judge Alan White remarked that if Macinness was sitting in a pub having a quiet drink he would not be stopped. “He gets stopped because he behaves likes this,” he said.
