Cathy McGuigan was treated to a makeover and an outfit chosen by a personal shopper on the show, which is presented by Tyrone broadcaster Lynette Fay.

On April 25, viewers will see Cathy travel to various venues to follow her love of country music.

She told the MAIL jiving has always been a love of hers.

“I’ve always jived”, Cathy explains. “I was living in America for years and I had put on a lot of weight so the jiving took a back seat because I just wasn’t fit for it anymore.”

After moving home, the former Letterkenny woman joined the group, Slimming World, and enrolled in the JMax gym in Draperstown, where she takes regular strength and body conditioning classes.

And, thanks to this new lease of life, Cathy has been able to indulge her love of country music once again.

“Overall I have lost six stone”, she continues. “I have been able to get back into the jiving again. A friend of mine, who is single like myself, comes with me to the dances. We go to Bundoran, Moy, anywhere where we know we will get a bit of jiving.”

Cathy lists artists such as Jimmy Buckley, Lisa McHugh, Gerry Guthrie and Mike Denver, as some of her favourites, and says she is delighted to see so many people embracing country music at the present time.

Keepin Er Country continues on Monday nights at 10.45pm on BBC1.
