New approach to anti social behaviour

CRUMLIN: A DPP meeting in Crumlin Community Centre has heard an Inter Agency forum has been set up in a joint initiative by the DPP and police, mainly to tackle anti social behaviour and criminal damage.

The forum will tackle a number of issues highlighted in the area by elected representatives and the community.

Local residents and councillors have identified that there is a large scale of anti social behaviour and criminal damage which goes unreported to police.

Plans are for a Youth Worker to patrol with the police as part of an engagement strategy.

with local young people. Youth Services are also trying to identify a suitable location to try and carry out education and awareness with young people.

Local elected members have been asked, when possible, to encourage their constituents to report matters to the police. A number of leaflet drops have taken place in the estates where the problems have been occurring.
