Northern Irish accent is voted sexiest in UK

The dulcet tones of our very own James Nesbitt as well as Liam Neeson, 50 Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan, Christine Bleakley and Rory McIlroy helped ensure the accent came top of the popularity charts when it comes to ‘sweet talk’.

The poll conducted by supermarket giant Asda revealed that the answers taken from over 2,000 people showed that 17 per cent favoured the Northern brogue-with our Celtic neighbours Scotland coming a close second on 15 per cent.

Overall this means that one in three think the Celtic twang is the sexiest in these islands.

Despite the huge popularity of TV show The Only Way is Essex, only one per cent found that accent sexy, closely followed by the Birmingham, Liverpudlian and Mancunian accents.
