Ballyronan District LOL No. 7 held their annual band parade, on July 1 as The Battle of The Somme Commemoration event in the small village of Ballyronan on the shores of Lough Neagh.

A good crowd of supporters lined the street to watch 15 marching bands who were in attendance. They were mostly local, but bands from neighbouring Maghera and as far as Kilrea took part in the parade.

The parade route took them from the Magherafelt Road, around The Marina, Main Street, Ballyneil Road and back to the Magherafelt Road.

An official street collection took place, in which people gave generously, which the organiser are forever grateful, with a total of £765 realised this year. These donations are used in the annual maintenance, upkeep and insurance of the village Arch.

Plans for next year’s parade are already in place with the emphasis on inviting more bands to take part.
