Causeway Coast and Glens Council investigate planning status of Portrush glamping pods
Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council are to investigate three glamping pods which have been erected in Portrush without planning permission.
The glamping pods have been erected on Castle Erin Road in the town, overlooking the West Strand.
Northern Ireland World reported recently that the pods had become a talking point on the north coast with opinion divided on both their aesthetic and their position.
However, it later came to light that the pods, operated by Reflect Portrush, had been put up without planning permission.

The pods are described as “an exclusive collection of three luxury contemporary retreats, with uninterrupted panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean”.
The three pods – named Cove, Nest and Perch – are priced at £350 per night and sleep two guests each.
On July 24, it was revealed that Causeway Coast and Glens Council were investigating the matter. In a statement to BBC NI, the Council said a planning application, lodged in June, for the three glamping cabins and associated sauna huts, a stand-alone sauna and plunge pool facility, and the provision of parking on the land was still "under consideration".
In response, Reflect Portrush said they had "engaged openly with the planning authority, and will continue to do so while the application is under consideration".
