Funeral of pedestrian struck by van to take place on Friday

Funeral details for the woman who was struck by a van in Knockloughrim on Monday night have been released.

Helen Watterson (64), of Quarry Road in the village had been walking near her home when the tragedy happened.

Her home and funeral will be strictly private in accordance with government Covid-19 guidelines.

However, her cortége will make its way along Quarry Road and the Ballinacross Road on Friday, November 13 at approximately 1.15pm allowing friends and family the opportunity to stand along the route to pay their respects whilst adhering to social distancing.

In a death notice, Garvin's Funeral Service, stated Mrs Watterson was the dearly beloved wife of Trevor, loving and devoted mother of Lorraine, Keith and David, dear mother-in-law of Warren, Vicky and Nikki, also a much loved granny and a dearly loved sister of Elizabeth and her husband Richard.

The police are appealing for information about the collision. Anyone with dash cam footage should get in touch with them by calling 101, and quoting reference number 1534 of 09/11/20.
